A More Relaxed Experience at Kilauea
Kilauea farmers market is a smallish market held every Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the neighborhood center. It is a County of Kauai sponsored Sunshine Market, so only produce is sold by approximately 20 vendors.
Another Kilauea farmers market is called Namahana, named after the mountain behind Kauai Mini Golf. Namahana farmers market is held on a grassy lawn every Monday afternoon from 4 p.m. until dusk, and every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mountain ranges and Albizia trees add beauty and tranquility to this community run market. Kauai’s North Shore is where most of the island’s organic farmers grow, and many of them sell here. Look for sumptuous exotic fruit, kaffir lime leaves and fresh herbs from Olana Organic Farm. Since it’s privately held, you’ll also find eggs, teas, honey, jams and more.
Farmers market produce is used at Namahana Cafe, a small restaurant that serves customers at the Anaina Hou Community Park. Besides the farmers market, there is Kauai Mini Golf, a 5 mile bicycle loop trail, a playground and skate park. Bikes can be rented at the gift shop near Namahana Cafe.
Take our Kauai Food Tour – North Shore and meet the farmer and sample his organic tea hand-crafted with Kauai grown ingredients.
